Robert Stewart graduated with a
liberal arts degree from Davidson College in May 2007. He obtained a
B.S. in mathematics while taking a diverse array of courses such as
Japanese Buddhism and Philosophy and Technology. In the fall of 2005,
Mr. Stewart spent a semester studying abroad at The University of St.
Andrews in Scotland.
While in college, Mr. Stewart worked for Davidson College in their
Mathematics Center tutoring Calculus I and II students. He also worked
in the Davidson community teaching basic math skills to high school and
middle school students.
Mr. Stewart began his actuarial career in 2007 in the Charlotte, NC
office of Scottish Re, a life reinsurance company. As a member of the
pricing team, he worked on traditional life reinsurance solutions. Mr.
Stewart gained exposure to term, whole life, universal life, and
variable universal life products while helping develop reinsurance
quotes for clients. Within six months, Mr. Stewart had passed the first
two actuarial examinations.
In June of 2008, Mr. Stewart joined MBA Actuaries in their
Winston-Salem office and will be supporting both the health and P&C
practices. Mr. Stewart enjoys the outdoors, having spent three summers
working for the YMCA as a camp counselor in North Carolina. His other
hobbies include running, ultimate frisbee, and reading. In the month
prior to joining MBA Actuaries, Mr. Stewart backpacked across Europe
traveling in Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic,
Hungary, and France.
