Robert (Bob) Daino offers clients over
fifteen years of senior management experience plus over twenty years as
a Consultant. He is creative and entrepreneurial, with years of
experience providing vision, innovation and marketing of technical
products and services within the insurance and reinsurance industries.
Mr. Daino
graduated Phi Beta Kappa, with honors, from Fordham University in 1971,
earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. He became a Member of
the American Academy of Actuaries in 1977 and a Fellow of the Casualty
Actuarial Society in 1978.
Mr. Daino
began his actuarial career in 1971 at Insurance Services Office (ISO)
in New York City where he managed a department responsible for no-fault
insurance as it was being newly introduced into law. In 1974 Mr. Daino
joined USAA Group as Vice President, where he managed a department of
actuaries and technical staff responsible for USAA’s large automobile
book of business. He was involved in strategic planning, product and
systems design. He left USAA in 1979 and joined a predecessor firm of
MBA Actuaries, Inc. performing a variety of actuarial and management
projects including loss reserving, pricing and rating bureau support.
In 1983, Mr.
Daino joined American Universal Insurance Group as Executive Vice
President in charge of actuarial, reinsurance and planning. The firm
was sold, and Mr. Daino’s career began to focus on the reinsurance side
of the business. In 1987, he joined the property-casualty reinsurance
brokerage firm of Holborn Corporation as Vice President and Chief
Actuary. Mr. Daino developed clients, produced business, built an
actuarial department and a variety of actuarial systems and reinsurance
sales tools.
In 1993 Mr.
Daino formed an independent casualty actuarial consulting firm,
Cornerstone Consultants, Inc. Clients were major reinsurance brokers,
insurers and reinsurers, including General Re Corp., Munich Re America,
St. Paul Re., Holborn, CNA and John P. Woods Co. American Re / Am Re
Brokers and Axiom Intermediaries were exclusive relationships from 1999
to 2006.
At
Cornerstone, Mr. Daino envisioned, designed and managed the development
of one of the industry’s first Dynamic Financial Analysis (DFA)
Systems. The system was designed to produce of simulations of insurance
results and compare multiple reinsurance programs. He provided the
system and related services to multiple clients, providing reinsurance
sales and technical support leading to many millions of dollars of
reinsurance premiums and brokerage fees.
Mr. Daino
joined MBA Actuaries, Inc. in 2009 and provides a wide variety of
insurance, reinsurance, financial modeling, dynamic financial analysis
and other actuarial consulting services.
